Day 6 - Good Friday

April 10

Pastor of Congregational Care

There is so much pain surrounding “Good Friday” that it’s hard to understand why we call it good at all.

It comes down to the 30th verse of John 19, when Jesus said, “It is finished.” That word “teleo” literally means to bring to an end. It’s often translated “finished’ or “completed.”

It also is used when you discharge or settle a debt. Romans 3:23 says we all have sinned, we all have a debt that keeps us from relationships with God. Romans 6:23 says what we owe for this sin is death, but it goes on to say that the gift of God is eternal life.

Jesus paid our debt on that cross. And that’s why its a “Good Friday!”

Does the person you’re praying for know what makes this a good day? Right now, reach out and text or call them. Ask this simple question, “Is there anything stopping you from deciding to put your faith in Jesus today?”
