This is the season for giving! Join the Mobberly family in reaching out to our church and community as we serve others in showing Christ’s love in a practical way during the month of November. We will have sign-up options on Sundays at the Serve table. Stop by and pick out a project for yourself, your connect group, or your family!

Mobberly Serve Month Projects

 

Project 1: FULL

Feed Police Officers: 302 W. Cotton St. Longview, TX

Project Description:  Serve the Police Department some BBQ from 11 A.M-1 P.M. on Friday, November 11, provided by Caterer, Kim Smith.  She will provide BBQ, buns, chips, baked beans, and cookies.  Mobberly will provide water and gloves to us to serve police officers.

Project 2: FULL

Graciously Broken: 312 Lloyd Ct., Longview

Project Description:  Spend time having a Bible study/craft time with female residents. We need a group of ladies to do a Bible study and also have some one-on-one conversations with the ladies at Graciously Broken.

Project Description: Monday, November 21: Preparing for their big Thanksgiving meal.

  • 9 A.M.-12 P.M. Need 10 volunteers for dressing prep and 10 volunteers for cranberry prep.
  • From 1 P.M.-5 P.M. Need 10 volunteers to help with deboning turkeys.

Project 4: FULL

Newgate Mission: 207 S. Mobberly Ave. Longview, 75602

Project Description: Help clean the Newgate facility.

  • Outside: Mowing, weed eating, picking up trash
  • Inside: Organize Pantry, serve breakfast on Saturday 7 A.M.-9 A.M. or Sunday 8 A.M.-10 A.M.

Project 5

Project Description: Deep cleaning of the kitchen, dining area, salon, and hallways.  Supplies needed are mops, brooms, rags, and other cleaning supplies.

Project Description: They need help sorting and cleaning their Thrift store.

Project Description: We are going to be making Thanksgiving baskets for single moms and their kids.  We will also spend some time with kids and single moms playing games and having a brief Bible study. This will be on Sunday, November 20, 12:30 P.M.

Project Description: Provide quarters for people at the laundry mat, hoping for a chance to share Jesus with people there washing clothes.  Mobberly will provide quarters.

Landscape of South Longview Neighborhoods:

Project Description: Work in yards of a South Longview neighborhood, including any type of landscaping, mowing, weed eating, or raking leaves.

Project 12

Beds of Hope:

Project Description: Go to a warehouse and build beds for kids in East Texas. Will need a drill with a backup battery. Willie and his Beds of Hope crew will teach you and give directions on how to put the beds together.

Project 13: FULL

Project Description: Work on the land of Williams Lake by picking up debris, putting some dirt down in front of restrooms, and cleaning up the prayer garden. Needed supplies include gloves, chainsaws, rakes, shovels, and any other outdoor supplies.

Serve Your Community Project

  • Pay for someone’s meal
  • Pray for a waiter or waitress (consider leaving a larger tip, too)
  • Do something nice for your neighbors
  • Make OCC boxes (Operation Christmas Child)
  • Hand out water and give invite cards at Paul Boorman Trail
  • Make gift baskets/hygiene bags for local mission partners
  • Prayer walks around your local schools or churches in your community.
  • Send Relief Gift Catalog. Choosing to send money overseas to help a family in need (Catalogs available in Bridge and worship foyer)
