Mobberly Baptist Church to Host The Compassion Experience
Longview, TX- November 7-11 Mobberly Baptist Church will host The Compassion Experience, an immersive exhibit that allows people to experience other cultures, the realities of global poverty, and find out how they can change the life of a child living half a world away.
The Compassion Experience is a project of Compassion International.
In order to advocate for the most vulnerable children, the Compassion Experience was created to share some of their realities. The Experience gives visitors a chance to see life for some children from a different perspective. It’s Compassion International’s hope that this perspective provides a continued awareness to both this type of poverty and the opportunity we all share to make a tangible difference for kids still stuck in the cycle of poverty.
Visitors will be given headsets and invited on a 45-minute, audio-guided journey through wheelchair-accessible and kid-friendly exhibit space, featuring replicas of the homes and environments of real children who have grown up under the weight of extreme poverty. Visitors will journey with the children from poverty to hope and will experience new countries and cultures along the way. Guests will hear the child’s life story through headphones, as told by professional voice actors in an immersive experience. The stories featured are all true and told with permission and direction from the Compassion-sponsored children who lived them.
This free event features an interactive journey through the true stories of children living in developing countries like the Philippines, Kenya, Uganda and the Dominican Republic.
In over 2,000 square feet of interactive exhibit space, visitors will step inside homes, markets and schools – without getting on a plane. Each child’s story starts in poverty but ends in hope.
The compassion Experience is free and open to the public. There are opportunities to sponsor a child, but it is not required.
The event will be held at Mobberly Baptist Church’s Longview campus, at 625 E Loop 281 in Longview, TX. For more information, including hours and a registration link for the experience visit mobberly.org/compassion. Reservations are not required, but are recommended.
