10th Annual Rummage Sale to Benefit East Texas Families in Need
Longview, TX- Mobberly Baptist Church’s tenth annual Rummage Sale will be held at the Exhibit Building at the Gregg County Fairgrounds on October 4 and 5.
Over the last nine years, the annual event has raised almost $170,000 to help Gregg County Residents in need. Funds raised go to the Family Services Benevolence Fund, providing residents of Gregg County emergency help with clothing, food, rent and utility money and a variety of other needs. Each year items are donated for the sale. People volunteer to prepare the sale and work the registers. The community comes to find great deals on used merchandise, and all of the proceeds go to help families in need.
“We have the Rummage Sale to not only help people get rid of the stuff they don’t need anymore, but to pass it along to people who do need it. It’s very true that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” said Greg Scobee, who volunteers to direct the massive sale every year.
Donations range from clothing to furniture and appliances to electronics, toys, linens and more. Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday with a $2 entry donation, and 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, no donation required.
“Being involved in the Rummage Sale has been one of the most rewarding endeavors I’ve ever been involved in, and I always look forward to the next one,” Scobee said.
If you have items to donate for the sale, they will be accepted Sept. 30 through Oct.3 at the Exhibit Building at the Fairgrounds between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. For more information Contact Greg Scobee ([email protected] or 903.918.8801) or Greg Martin ([email protected]) or visit mobberly.org/sale.
